Morton A. Diamond, M.D., is the product of a small, rural village in upstate New York. After undergraduate and medical education, interrupted by service as a battalion medical officer in Vietnam, he practiced clinical cardiology in Hollywood, Florida, where he served as Chief of the Medical Staff at Memorial Hospital. In 1994 he retired from medical practice and became Professor and Medical Director of the Physician Assistant Program at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
In December 2002, he was diagnosed with incurable stage IV, B cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He opted to participate in an experimental treatment program that included radioimmunotherapy. Now, 3 years after the end of therapy, he is considered to be free of malignancy on a cellular and molecular basis.
Dr. Diamond and his wife, Louise, have three children and three grandchildren.
